The Art of Lent
Lent Course 2021

A painting, a poem and a prayer, with time to ruminate, reflect and respond.  That’s the simple recipe of this year’s Lent offering.

On the four Thursdays in March (4, 11, 18 and 25) we’ll explore four themes - Sorrowing, Sitting, Seeking and Seeing - in the company of some great art, and in the Zoom-enabled company of each other. The sessions - which will begin at 6pm and last 40 minutes - will be led by Stewart & Carol Henderson, Jonathan Andrew, Becky Warner and Darren McCallig.

Lent Appeal in 2021 - Laptops for children

Children are doing their school work at home, many with limited or no access to technology - eg. siblings and parents are sharing just one laptop between them. Our Lent Appeal this year will aim to provide computer aid for local families in need. We hope to raise as much money as we can to provide technology for familes with children at both Esher Church School and Esher High School. The funds will be divided equally between the two schools.

Services Online Only - An Update from the Rector

My Dear Friends,

The medieval mystic Meister Eckhart is reputed to have said that if the only prayer we ever say in our whole lives is ‘thank you’, it will be enough. It’s quite a claim, and one could perhaps quibble with it. Nevertheless, it reminds us of the vital importance of an attitude of gratitude.

And so I’d like to take this opportunity to say some ‘thank yous’:

Services Online Only - A Message from the Rector

My dear friends,

On Monday 4 January, the Prime Minister announced a new national lockdown across England. While the headline instruction was ‘stay at home’, the accompanying guidance stated that ‘you can attend places of worship for a service.’

However, as we know, we continue to be one of the worst hit regions of the country and our health facilities are under extraordinary pressure. We must do all that we can to protect the most vulnerable in our communities and the NHS.
