Day 22 – God’s Rescuer Arrives

Everything was ready.  The moment God had been waiting for was here at last! God was coming to help his people, just as he promised in the beginning.

But how would he come? What would he be like? What would he do?

Mountains would have bowed down. Seas would have roared.  Trees would have clapped their hands.  But the Earth held its breath.  As silent as snow falling, he came in.  And when no one was looking, in the darkness he came.

Day 21 - Joseph the Carpenter

Joseph was a young man from Nazareth.  He was a carpenter and was very clever at making things from wood.  He worked hard in his workshop with his father.

Now Joseph was in love with a young girl named Mary and they were engaged to be married!  But then he discovered that she was going to have a baby. He planned to break off their engagement quietly.

Day 20 - John the Baptist

On the day that John was born, his dad knew God’s promise to Abraham was coming true – God was sending the Rescuer.  And he was so happy he sang a song:

“Because God loves us with a Never Stopping,

Never Giving Up, Unbreaking,

Always and Forever Love –

Heaven is breaking through!

He is sending us a Light from Heaven,

To shine on us like the sun,

To shine on those who live in darkness,

And in the shadow of death,

Day 19 – Speechless Zacharias

So there was this Priest called Zacharias and his wife was Elizabeth.  They loved God but they were very sad as they had no children and were getting quite old.

Zacharias worked in God’s special house, the temple. One day when he was at the temple the Angel Gabriel appeared before him and he was so afraid that he shook with fear. But Gabriel reassured him by saying,

Day 18 – Elizabeth’s Joy

Bible Ref: Luke 1, Ornament: Mother & child

Elizabeth and her husband were old and had no children, but miraculously God had made Elizabeth pregnant.

When she was about 6 months pregnant, there was a knock on the door.  She had a very special visitor. It was Mary, her young cousin from Nazareth.

Elizabeth’s baby leapt in her womb when he heard Mary’s voice.  It was amazing! Elizabeth knew already in her heart that Mary was pregnant with baby Jesus, and that is why the baby leapt – with joy.

There was a young girl who lived in Nazareth.  Her name was Mary and she was engaged to a man named Joseph.  One morning, Mary was minding her own business when, suddenly, a great warrior of light appeared – right there, in her bedroom.  He was Gabriel and he was an angel, a special messenger from heaven.

Can you imagine how you would feel if an angel suddenly arrived in your bedroom? When Mary saw the tall shining man standing there, she was very frightened.
